Three unwanted misses Starting today with number 6 on his bib and 30 seconds behind the winner of the Sprint Frode Andresen, Ivan Tcherezov shortened the deficit by 5 seconds at the first intermediate (1,3 km) and it became 25,0 seconds. Anyway Ivan approached the shooting range ranking 7th, 29,2 seconds behind. Shooting faultless in the first prone and spending 29 seconds on it, Ivan was already the 4th, 32,4 seconds behind the new leader of the race Michael Roesch (Germany). At the 3,8 km intermediate the gap was already only 27,7 seconds. At the 4,3 km intermediate it became even less – 22,5 seconds behind the new leader of the race Raphael Poiree (France). Ivan shot perfect in his second shooting session as well but now he spent 32 seconds to close all five targets. So Ivan Tcherezov was still 4th with 26,1 seconds deficit. But in the third lap Ivan’s gap haв grown and was 32,4 seconds. Unfortunately Ivan failed third shooting session: he made 3 misses. After three penalty laps, what means 450 m more, Ivan continued the race ranking only 15th, 57,5 seconds behind Raphael Poiree, who was still the leader of the race. On the fourth lap Ivan shortened his deficit from Poiree by 12,6 seconds. In the final shooting session Ivan Tcherezov shot clean: 27 seconds and five closed targets. Ivan left the range ranking 8th, 28,1 seconds behind Poiree. On lap 5 Ivan lost several seconds on the track. Finally Ivan ranked 10th. Michael Roesch won the Pursuit. Raphael Poiree was second. Sergei Tchepikov – third (he had one error in the third shooting session). Here are the results of other Russian biathletes: Pavel Rostovtsev 4 (1 0 1 0), Sergei Rozhkov 50 (2 0 1 0), Andrei Makoveev 55 (3 2 0 1). In Women Pursuit Liv Grete Poiree (Norway) won the race in an exciting duel with Kati Wilhelm (Germany), who according to the photo finish ranked second. Bronze won Russian Albina Akhatova, who shot flawless and didn’t make a single miss.
