Ivan Tcherezov, a world champion in biathlon, finally came from a long journey back to Izhevsk. To win his first in the whole life serious gold Ivan had to cope with lots of difficulties. First success came to the debutant of the Russian team abroad but the real triumph Ivan Tcherezov achieved on the Russian track. At the final World Cup stage, which took place in Khanty-Mansiusk, a sportsman from Izhevsk won gold in the Mixed Relay that was held as a part of World Championships. So that`s how optimistically Ivan Tcherezov finished his preolympic season and then he was ready to set off for Izhevsk. Ivan, a debutant of the Russian National team, just burst into the biathlon elite. Almost in one year Ivan turned from a junior into the biathlete of pretty a high level. He became a one, with whom everyone needs to consider. Anyway the first races with the biathlon stars were not so easy for Ivan. Ivan Tcherezov - a world champion in biathlon: "First World Cup stages and first starts were the most dreadful and nervous. But later I got accustomed to it and had a direct aim. So I tried to achieve it not paying attention to the surrounding. I just did what I could: just wanted to have good speed on the country cross and avoid errors at the shooting range". First success came to the biathlete from Izhevsk in Holmenkollen (Norway). That time Ivan ranked 4th in the Individual race. Next week in Sweden he even improved the result and won bronze medal in Mass Start. At the preolympic week in Italy Ivan wasn`t successful at all. He couldn`t conquer the San Sicario`s track. Ivan Tcherezov - a world champion in biathlon: "I suppose it was never so hard in my life. Really tough races. On the final lap, on the ascent to the stadium me legs did really hurt. With every movement I got a cramp in my foot. That never happened before in my life". Ivan Tcherezov also didn`t have a gold medal of the World Championships at that time. But his favorite Khanty-Mansiusk corrected this mistake. It was in this full of snow (comparing to Europe) Russian town, where the final spot of the biathlon season was put. For Russia it was a gold triumph. Ivan Tcherezov - a world champion in biathlon: "We were at home. We just couldn`t perform unsuccessfully. Everyone understood it. It was the last stage, moreover at home so we had to do our best". Two mixed Russian squads made the spectators more than happy. At the finish our squads arrived confidently alone. Anyway the squad in which Ivan performed on the third leg was a bit faster and finished first winning gold of the World Championships in the Mixed Relay. So the biathlon world cup season as finished but Ivan wasn`t going to rest. The last target will be closed at the last stage of the Russian Cup in April.
